Hydration Hostage is a macOS menu bar app that enforces hydration instead of just reminding you to. On a schedule you set, it takes over your screen and only unlocks when the camera — running entirely on-device via Apple's Vision framework — confirms you took a real sip. Camera frames are processed locally and discarded immediately; nothing is recorded, uploaded, or analyzed beyond the verification, and the app works fully offline. Three escalating modes (Gentle, Enforcer, Hostage) let users choose how much accountability they want. Free to download with a 7-day full trial; $14.99 one-time for lifetime Premium, no subscription.
